The Biomass and Green Technologies Laboratory at the University of Liège, Belgium, is expanding its cutting-edge research and seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher (M/F/X) to join its team. 🧪 Research Focus & Responsibilities
As part of an innovative, interdisciplinary team led by Prof. Aurore Richel, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel lignin-based solutions for advanced material and energy storage applications. Your work will be directly tied to sustainability goals and technological innovation across Europe.
Key responsibilities include:

Isolation of lignin using advanced chemical engineering methods.

Characterization of molecular and supramolecular lignin structures using established analytical techniques.

Investigation into the relationship between lignin’s physical properties and its electrical performance.
The ultimate goal of your research is to support the design and development of next-generation energy storage components and sustainable advanced materials.
✅ Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in one of the following or closely related fields:

Chemical Sciences (e.g., polymer chemistry, materials chemistry, catalysis, electrochemistry)

Chemical Engineering

Biotechnology

Bioengineering
Additional Requirements:

Proven research experience in relevant scientific disciplines.

Excellent spoken and written English is essential for international collaboration.
